INTRODUCTION
The use of stylistic and syntactic means, such as inversion and separated clauses, is a common phenomenon in various functional styles of the Ukrainian and English languages. These structural features have also become the object of research by many linguists and scholars in the field of stylistics. In this regard, the study of lexical-semantic features of inversion and separated clauses has the potential to become a significant theoretical contribution to future research in this field of linguistics.
Given the importance and influence of literature on modern culture, the importance of the structure and language used in literary works cannot be underestimated. A work as an artistic form of information perception has a great potential to influence readers through the use of various stylistic devices, including lexical figures. Among these stylistic devices, a special place can be occupied by inversion, which consists in breaking the usual order of words or lexical units in a sentence in order to create an effect, accent or expressiveness. Inversion can be a powerful tool for creating semantic tension and adding depth of expression in a literary text.
Among the literary works that are distinguished by the use of inversion, a special place belongs to "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo, which became a classic representative of the criminal genre and literary saga. In this context, the study of lexical-semantic features of inversion in this story can reveal new aspects of the interaction of language with readers, as well as deepen the understanding of the role of lexical figures in the creation of an artistic image and its effects on them.
The research work on the topic "Lexico-semantic features of inversion in the work "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo" is aimed at the analysis of lexical and semantic aspects of inversion in the mentioned work, which is an urgent task for cultural and linguistic research.
Statement of the problem. The work "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo became a classic representative of the criminal genre, in which intrigue and tension are created with the help of various lexical and semantic means. However, inversion is used to create a special mood and psychological dynamics. However, there are still no systematic studies on the lexical-semantic aspects of this stylistic figure in the context of this work.
Research object and subject. The object of research is the work "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo, and the subject is the lexical-semantic features of inversion in it.
Topicality. The research is relevant because it will contribute to a better understanding of the structure and effectiveness of inversion in a literary text, expand our imagination about the ways of creating a semantic load and mood in the reader.
Aim and objectives of the study. The purpose of the study is to determine the lexical-semantic features of inversion in the work "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo. The main tasks include the analysis of lexical units and structures that are used to create inversion, the study of their semantic load, as well as the consideration of the influence of inversion on the development of the plot and the characterization of characters.
Theoretical significance of the study. The results of the study can be an important contribution to the theory of linguistics and stylistics, helping to better understand the role of lexical-semantic features of inversion in the creation of an artistic text.
Practical significance of the study. The results of the research can be used for the analysis and interpretation of other literary works, as well as for teaching stylistics and script art.
Definition of key terms:
1. Inversion is a stylistic figure that consists in breaking the usual order of words or lexical units in a sentence in order to create an effect or emphasis.
2. Lexical-semantic features - specific features of lexical units and their semantic content.
Theoretical framework. The research is based on the theories of linguistics and stylistics, including the theories of text structural analysis, the theory of stylistic figures and literary art.
Methodology. The methods of textual and semantic analysis of the work "The Godfather", as well as a comparative analysis of other literary works and theoretical concepts of stylistics will be used to achieve the objectives.
Research materials. The main sources of information for the study are the work "The Godfather" (1969) by Mario Puzo and analytical literature on linguistics and stylistics, which helps to reveal the lexical-semantic features of inversion in this context.
