Особливості відтворення українською мовою одиниць лексико-семантичного поля “CRIME” у американському дискурсі детективного жанру (ID:1135086)

The lexical-semantic field is a hierarchical structure of many lexical units, united by common meanings. The lexicalsemantic field is understood by a native speaker. The lexical-semantic field is autonomous and can be distinguished as an independent subsystem of the language. Units of lexical-semantic field are connected with semantic relations. Each lexical-semantic field is associated with other semantic fields of the language and together they create a linguistic system. The lexical-semantic field has its core and periphery. The core contains the most important words, they are interconnected by strong semantic relations. On the periphery there are functionally less important words, which, as a rule, also belong to another lexical-semantic field [9: 50]. The study is focused on the study of the peculiarities of the translation of the lexical-semantic field "crime". Problem the correct translation of the words that denote certain offenses have long been of interest to philologists and translators. Because the achievement of the ideal translation is not entirely possible, the translator has to make various compromises. The theoretical question of the definition of lexical-semantic fields are devoted to the works of many linguists, such as: V. V. Dyatchuk, L. O. Pustovit, L. A. Lysychenko, V. V. Levitskyi, V. M. Rusanivskyi, O. O. Selivanova, H. Ibsen, J. Trier, V. Humboldt, H. Osthof and others. The relevance of the topic is determined, first of all, by the reality of the problem of creating a lexical foundation to indicate the criminal actions of a person, the need to improve the legal classification terms of the lexical-semantic field "crime"; secondly, its relevance of the topic to modern directions of language research; thirdly, its importance developments for the theoretical understanding of the series other issues of linguistics, translation theory and lexicography. The aim of the work is to describe the peculiarities of the translation of words of the lexical-semantic field "crime" in the works of Dan Brown. Objectives of the study: 1) determine what the lexical-semantic field is; 2) to find out the transformations of translation of lexico-semantic field "crime" reproduction; 3) to study the problems of detective discourse in linguistics; 4) to determine the lexical transformations of the American detective discourse in the works of Dan Brown; 5) to investigate the grammatical transformations of the American detective discourse in the works of Dan Brown; 6) to describe the lexical-grammatical features of the translation of the lexical-semantic field "crime" in the works of Dan Brown. The object of research is lexical-semantic "crime" field. The subject of research is the specificity of translation of the lexical-semantic field of "crime" in a work of art. The data sources involve the Dan Brown`s detective novels. The aim, tasks and data sources determine the methods of the study, which involve the text-interpretive analysis to identify and classify units of the lexical-semantic field "crime", the method of descriptive analysis – for the description and classification of translation transformations applied in the target text, the method of comparative translation analysis aimed at comparing the units of the lexical-semantic field "crime" in the source and target texts as well as the method of quantitative analysis to determine the main options of reproduction in the translation of the lexical-semantic field "crime". The theoretical significance of the study lies in the fact that it can contribute to the problem of theoretical understanding of the ways of ordering lexical-semantic units into a field structure, as well as to the translatological problem of reproduction such a structure. The practical value of the research is based on its practical contribution to ways of transferring the lexical-semantic field "crime" from English to Ukrainian. The results of the research can be used as a practical material on seminars on the practical course of translation and elective courses on the problems of translation of literary texts in the aspect of reproduction in the target text of their lexical-semantic and stylistic characteristics. The structure of the research paper includes the Introduction, two Chapters, Conclusions to Chapters, Conclusions, Bibliography, List of Reference Sources, List of Data Sources, Annex and a Summary in Ukrainian.
