At the current stage, the goal of teaching English in higher education is to form students' communicative competence, which allows them to use their knowledge, skills and abilities to solve specific communicative tasks in real life situations. Students should be trained on the basis of high-quality, modern and authentic materials so that they can consciously use a foreign language in their future life and work. High-quality teaching of foreign languages to students is impossible without the use of modern teaching technologies. Of course, without finding productive teaching methods and techniques, there can be no question of effective learning of foreign languages, nor of modern organization of the educational process. In order to achieve a high level of foreign language teaching, it is important for teachers to know the latest teaching methods, special methods and learning techniques, so that they can optimally choose specific methods according to their level of knowledge, needs and interests of students. A relatively new approach, or an alternative, to the study of the English language at the current stage of the development of methodical science is a teaching method based on the performance of tasks, which does not involve traditional preparatory explanations and training on language phenomena. This technique can be called a "mirror image" of the traditional scheme not only from the point of view of the sequence of work with language material, but also from the point of view of the principles of its selection, presentation and organization. In the Anglo-American tradition, this method is called "Task-Based Learning" or "Method of communicative tasks", which developed from the communicative method of teaching foreign languages, and its use is based on the development of students of the 21st century (critical thinking, communication, teamwork and creativity), and its use actively contributes to the development of 21st century skills. Task-based learning (TBL) is gradually becoming a part of many curricula, but it is still a new concept for most English teachers. As a result, teachers of foreign languages are in constant creative search for the newest and most effective methods that can interest students, stimulate their creativity, and improve and multiply their knowledge in a limited amount of classroom time. The desire of teachers to modernize the process of teaching foreign languages leads to a deeper study and improvement of the latest technologies, which determined the topicality of our research. The object of research is task-based language teaching. The subject of research is task-based language teaching in English communicative competence. The aim of the work is investigate the implementation of task-based approaches in English language teaching. To achieve this aim, we need to complete the following tasks: - to investigate the application of TBLT (Task-based language training approach) in teaching English; - to investigate the role of task-based language teaching (TBLT) in improving students' speaking skills in English as a second language; - to determine the improvement of communicative competence using a task-based approach; - to analyze the use of the task-based language teaching method in the process of learning a foreign language at a university. The practical value of the work lies in the development of exercises and tasks to improve students' English communicative competence.
